titleOfInvention | Apparatus and method for improved molecular detection |
abstract | A method is provided that utilizes linear dichroism to identify the presence of a target molecule in a sample. The method includes providing an alignable scaffold comprising a first binding region and having a high aspect ratio greater than 5: 1 and the LD signal of the alignable scaffold is compared to a non-bonded aligned scaffold. Including a second binding region that binds to the first binding region in the absence of the target molecule, wherein one of the first and second binding regions binds to the target molecule so as to be reduced or minimized Preparing a substrate that is a receptor capable of binding and, if there is binding of the target molecule to the receptor, the scaffold bound to the substrate such that the binding releases the scaffold bound to the substrate from the substrate. Exposure to the sample and measuring the LD signal of the scaffold before and after exposure to the sample. Also provided are reagents and devices for use in the present methods. |
