A medical care guidance method and device based on sensor data from the gastrointestinal tract has been described using a device that can be used in enteral nutrition. In general, the device includes an elongate body having a length configured for insertion into the stomach and at least one pair of electrodes disposed along the elongate body and positionable for placement within the stomach. A controller in electrical communication with the at least one pair of electrodes is included, and the control also measures the conductivity or impedance between the electrode pairs, and based on the measured conductivity or impedance, measures the remaining amount of stomach contents It is configured.
