A first layer comprising a channel that promotes wound angiogenesis and a second layer in contact with the first layer, having the same or different chemical composition as the first layer. Disclosed herein is a multilayer wound dressing comprising a second layer comprising at least one surface having a texture, the texture orientation being effective to promote cell orientation and proliferation. The method includes forming a first layer of polymeric material, forming a second layer of the same polymeric material as the first layer on the first layer, and the same polymeric material as the first layer. Forming a textured surface of the second layer of the textured surface, wherein the textured surface is effective to promote directional cell growth when used in a wound dressing, The first layer and the second layer are formed by an additive manufacturing process.
