titleOfInvention | Distillation process for the production of acrylic acid |
abstract | Provides an integrated process for the conversion of betapropiolactone to acrylic acid. A system for the production of acrylic acid is also provided. The present invention provides (a) a feed stream comprising betapropiolactone and a first solvent; and (b) directing the feed stream to the reaction zone where the feed stream is contacted with a polymerization catalyst. Converting the reaction zone to poly (propiolactone) such that at least a portion of the beta propiolactone is converted to poly (propiolactone) and (c) thermal decomposition of the poly (propiolactone) produces acrylic acid. Piolactone) is maintained at or above the pyrolysis temperature, (d) a first solvent distillation stream is removed from the reaction zone, and (e) an acrylic acid product stream is removed from the reaction zone. And a method comprising: |
