A method of making a polymer foam composite includes forming a polymer foam that is at least partially uncured; the formed polymer foam comprising a plurality of nonwoven fibers having an average diameter of 100 um or less Preparing a pre-composite by contacting the shaped mat with a portion of the polymer foam under conditions effective to penetrate the mat; and curing the pre-composite to form a polymer foam composite Forming. The precomposite includes a polymer foam layer and a mixed layer comprising the same polymer as the polymer of the fibrous mat and polymer foam layer. The polymer foam composite includes a cured polymer foam layer and a mixed layer integrally bonded with the first layer, the mixed layer being the same cure as the polymer of the fibrous mat and the cured polymer foam layer. Contains polymer. |
