abstract | The present invention relates to systems, devices, collections, techniques and methods for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a subject, as well as treatment methods. Specifically, the present disclosure provides systems, devices, collections, techniques and methods that utilize direct sequencing of microribonucleic acid (miRNA), or nucleic acids with complementary nucleic acids present in a biological sample from a subject. It relates to the use of miRNA probes having ribonucleotide sequences that can undergo hybridization. In order to determine whether the subject has ASD, hybridization of the miRNA probe may be detected in the sample. Detecting ASD using the methods described herein can provide treatment guidance to a subject. |
