abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a cutting insert having a partially different thickness between upper and lower surfaces without causing distortion or deformation. A lower punch 12 is inserted into a hole portion 11A of a die 11 from below in a powder molding press method for a green compact for cutting insert in which a thickness in an insert center line PO direction between upper and lower surfaces is partially different. Then, the forming space Q is filled with the raw material powder R, and the preforming upper punch 14 having the preforming surface 14B having a shape different from the shape obtained by inverting the upper surface of the green compact for cutting insert in plane symmetry is formed in the forming space Q. By inserting from above and performing preforming, a large amount of the raw material powder R is filled in a portion where the thickness between the upper and lower surfaces in the insert center line PO direction is thicker than in a thin portion in a state before preforming. Then, the upper punch for final molding is inserted into the molding space Q from above and the raw material powder R is powder-molded and pressed. [Selection diagram] Fig. 6
