Activin-ActRIIa antagonists and their use to increase red blood cell levels |
abstract |
Activin-ActRIIa antagonists and their use to increase red blood cell levels. In certain aspects, the present invention provides compositions and methods for increasing red blood cell and / or hemoglobin levels in vertebrates, including rodents and primates, particularly in humans. In part, the present invention demonstrates that activin antagonists as well as ActRIIa antagonists (collectively “activin-ActRIIa antagonists”) can be used to increase red blood cell and hemoglobin levels. In part, the present invention demonstrates that activin-ActRIIa antagonists can increase red blood cell and hemoglobin levels as well as bone density. [Selection] Figure 15 |
