titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for knotless suture fixation
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for fixing tissue to bone. A surgical system includes a driver having an opening extending therethrough, an elongate shaft, a suture anchor, and a dilator mechanism distal to the suture anchor. May be included. The elongate shaft extends through the lumen of the driver such that the distal portion of the elongate shaft extends distally from the driver's distal driver mechanism, and the central shaft portion of the elongate shaft communicates with the driver opening. A suture retaining mechanism extends through the central shaft portion. The suture can be passed through the lumen of the suture anchor such that the terminal portion of the suture is passed along the suture retaining mechanism and extends through the opening. The driver is configured to drive the suture anchor distally toward the dilator mechanism and into the bone, thereby securing the suture. [Selection] Figure 1
