abstract A method for easily producing an electrode catalyst having excellent catalytic activity is provided. A polyol solution preparation step for preparing a polyol solution containing a polyol solvent, a platinum compound, a transition metal compound and an organic dispersant; and a catalyst containing platinum and a transition metal generated by heating the polyol solution is subjected to inorganic oxidation. A supporting step for supporting the carrier on which the catalyst is supported; a solid-liquid separation step for separating the carrier on which the catalyst is supported from the polyol solution; and a heat treatment step for heat-treating the carrier on which the catalyst is supported in an oxygen-containing atmosphere. And an acid treatment step of treating the carrier carrying the catalyst with an acid to obtain a target electrode catalyst. [Selection figure] None
