PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for prognosis and treatment of cancer metastasis. The present invention relates to a method for the prognosis of bone metastases in triple negative (including basal cell-like) breast cancer or alternatively ER + breast cancer (including luminal A and β), the method comprising: in a primary tumor sample C. to determine if the c-MAF gene is amplified. Similarly, the invention also relates to a method for determining the propensity to cause bone metastasis in relation to metastasis in other organs, which method comprises the step of determining the expression level, amplification or translocation of the c-MAF gene .
