abstract Provided are a learning device and a learning method capable of suppressing an influence on data variation in learning evaluation. When performing learning evaluation by cross-validation, an evaluation unit 12 divides all learning data into one or more learning groups and an evaluation group, and performs learning using learning data of the learning group. The determined decision function (class discriminant) is evaluated based on the evaluation data of the evaluation group. Then, the evaluation unit 12 executes the series of evaluation processes a plurality of times while changing the combinations of the learning and evaluation groups so that the group combinations of the evaluation data are not the same. The evaluation unit 12 evaluates a decision function extracted in each learning through cross validation including the above processing. [Selection] Figure 1
