abstract | A carbon material precursor having a high carbonization yield and capable of efficiently producing a carbon material is provided. A polymer containing a cyclic structural unit obtained by intramolecular cyclization of a diene polymer containing at least one structural unit represented by formulas (15) to (18), for example, 3, 4 -Polyisoprene is cyclized intramolecularly with a cyclization catalyst such as Lewis acid or Bronsted acid to obtain a condensed 6-membered ring polymer, and further a carbon material precursor solution containing the polymer is obtained.
