Provided is a method for producing pentamethylene diisocyanate capable of suppressing a decrease in fluidity of a salt-formation mixture containing pentamethylenediamine hydrochloride and preventing the adhesion of pentamethylenediamine hydrochloride to a stirring tank in the salt-forming step. To do. An amine raw material containing pentamethylene diamine having an ethanolamine content of 0.10% by mass or less is prepared, and the amine raw material and hydrogen chloride are mixed together to prepare pentamethylene diamine.
