titleOfInvention Method for treating coated articles and article to be treated
abstract A method for treating a coated article having a consumable layer after the coated article has been exposed to operating temperatures. Applying an aluminizing composition 304 to an article 100; forming an overlay aluminide coating 700 on the article from the aluminizing composition; heat treating the overlay aluminide coating; and overlay aluminide coating from aluminum. Diffusing into the consumable layer to convert at least a portion of the consumable layer to the recovery layer 702. An article in which the consumable layer includes an aluminum concentration depleted from a corresponding layer of the article before the coated article 100 is exposed to operating temperature, and the recovery layer includes a recovered aluminum concentration that is greater than the consumable aluminum concentration. The article to be treated 10 includes a substrate, a recovery aluminide layer disposed on the substrate, and an overlay aluminide coating disposed on the recovery aluminide layer.
