abstract An elastomer composition having improved mechanical properties is provided. The elastomer composition contains, as main components, a cystine-containing peptide and a graft polymer obtained by graft polymerizing at least one monomer to a polymer having at least one polar group. The polymer is at least one selected from the group consisting of halogen groups, sulfone groups, carbonyl groups, amino groups, imino groups, carboxyl groups, hydroxyl groups, sulfide groups, disulfide groups, sulfonyl groups, amide groups, and nitrile groups. It has a polar group. The elastomer composition is produced by mixing a cystine-containing peptide, a polymer having at least one polar group, and at least one monomer in an aqueous medium, and then allowing to stand and dry.
