A ligand-targeting molecule and a ligand drug conjugate (LDC) comprising a ligand attached to a functional group. (Ii) a functional moiety; (ii) a linker attached to the functional moiety; (iii) a dicarbonyl moiety attached to the linker; and (iv) a drug attached to the dicarbonyl moiety; A ligand drug conjugate comprising a ligand bound to a ligand-targeting molecule, wherein the drug is a platinum chemotherapeutic agent, wherein the platinum is bound to the linker via a monocarboxylate and O → Pt coordination bond. Including platinum coordination complexes. The invention includes a method for preparing the ligand drug conjugate and a method for the treatment of tumors using the ligand drug conjugate.
