titleOfInvention Image forming apparatus
abstract An image forming apparatus capable of executing cleaning control of a rubbing portion based on the surface roughness of an intermediate transfer belt. When a first print number N1 is equal to or greater than a predetermined number (YES in S1), a control unit acquires a surface roughness of an intermediate transfer belt (S2). The surface roughness is acquired based on the amount of reflected light detected by the optical sensor. The control unit sets the toner supply interval according to the acquired surface roughness and starts image formation (S4, S5). When the second print number N2 is equal to or greater than the toner supply interval (YES in S6), the control unit temporarily interrupts the image formation being executed and executes toner supply control (S7, S8). As described above, the surface roughness of the intermediate transfer belt is acquired, and the execution interval of the toner supply control can be changed and set based on the acquired surface roughness. As a result, it is possible to achieve both reduction in the occurrence of horizontal streak-like image defects due to fixed matter resulting from the seepage of the belt surface and efficient operation of the image forming apparatus.
