System for mitral valve repair and replacement |
abstract |
A system suitable for mitral valve repair and replacement is provided. One or more mitral valve interventional devices are advanced transvascularly into the patient's heart to stabilize the valve leaflets over or along the mitral valve. Disclosed is a system for mitral valve repair that can be deployed. The interventional device may also facilitate placement or anchoring of the prosthetic mitral valve implant. The interventional device generally includes a proximal set of arms that are pivotably and / or rotatably coupled, as well as a distal set of pivotally and / or rotationally coupled. An arm may be provided. The distal set of arms can be advanced past the catheter opening to a sub-annular position (eg, below the mitral valve) and reconfigured from a low profile delivery configuration to a deployed fixed configuration. The proximal arm member can then be deployed so that the distal arm member and the proximal arm member can grip the leaflet between the two sets of arms to stabilize the leaflet.
