abstract | Dispersion accelerators that do not require special dispersion and surface treatment techniques and facilities, can impart hydrophilicity and adhesiveness to the surface of various carbon materials by a simple method without impairing the original characteristics of carbon materials , An adhesion improver, and a surface-modified carbon material and a carbon composite material whose surface is modified by using the adhesion improver. A copolymer (A) containing 1-90 mol% of 2-oxazoline monomer (a) and 10-99 mol% of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic monomer (b) as constituent units is a carbon material. It has unique properties for promoting dispersion in seed materials and improving surface adhesion of carbon materials. Moreover, the surface modification carbon material and various carbon composite material which were obtained by making it react with various carbon materials using the adhesive improvement agent which consists of the said copolymer were provided. Preferably, the dispersion accelerator for a carbon material, wherein the nitrogen-containing complex ring monomer (b) is vinyl pyrrolide and the carbon material is a carbon nanotube.
