Provided is a photocatalyst having excellent durability in which particle disintegration is suppressed while having excellent adsorption performance and photocatalytic performance. A photocatalyst comprising a titanium oxide compound and having a granule strength of 5 to 300 MPa. Furthermore, a photocatalyst that preferably contains zeolite as an adsorbent. A photocatalyst preferably having an average secondary particle diameter of 10 to 5000 μm and an aspect ratio of 1.45. Desirably, a photocatalyst used for water purification. After the raw material particles containing the titanium oxide compound are granulated to obtain secondary particles, the raw material particles are sintered at a temperature of 40 to 70% of the melting point of the lowest melting point material constituting the raw material particles for 1 to 50 hours.
