abstract A two-layer three-way catalyst is provided. The present invention comprises a first layer in direct contact with an inert catalyst support comprising activated alumina, cerium / zirconium composite oxide and palladium, and an active in direct contact with the exhaust gas to be purified applied to the first layer. A two-layer three-way catalyst on an inert catalyst support, comprising a second layer comprising alumina and rhodium, wherein the second layer does not contain cerium or a cerium-containing substance. The present invention relates to an original catalyst, the use of this type of catalyst for purifying exhaust gas of an automobile equipped with a gasoline engine, and an exhaust gas treatment system provided with this type of catalyst upstream of a gasoline particulate filter (GPF).
