titleOfInvention | Biological sterilization indicator with sterilant-resistant modulator |
abstract | A built-in biological sterilization indicator is provided. A self-contained biological sterilization indicator is a sealed but releasable and liquid impervious that encloses an outer container having at least one liquid impervious wall and an inner volume and a predetermined volume of aqueous medium. An inner container, i) a plurality of viable test microorganisms useful for detecting exposure to oxidative sterilant, and ii) a dry coating comprising an effective amount of a sterilant-resistant modulator, an inner volume and an outer container And a passage that enables steam communication with an external atmosphere. The inner container and the dry coating are disposed within the interior volume. The modulator includes an amino acid. The effective amount increases the sensitivity of the test microorganism to the oxidative sterilant compared to a dry coating that lacks the effective amount but otherwise is the same. |
