abstract |
Since biomass is always accompanied by corrosive inorganic materials, we have formed an anionic salt of α-hydroxysulfonic acid in a potentially reversible acid pretreatment process. We found that the largest “loss” was shown. By titrating the α-hydroxy sulfonate with a strong mineral acid and then returning the α-hydroxy sulfonic acid to its main component, the acid component can be recovered substantially quantitatively.
