The present invention provides a sustained release capsule dosage form of metoprolol succinate in the form of coated dispersed units and methods for preparing them. The present invention provides a sustained release capsule dosage form of metoprolol succinate in the form of a coated dispersion unit, said capsule dosage form being bioequivalent to a commercially available Toprol-XLO tablet. In addition, sustained release capsule dosage forms comprising coated dispersion units can be sprinkled over food to facilitate administration to patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules, such as pediatric patients and the elderly. |
