titleOfInvention Encapsulated spacer for electromechanical system display device
abstract The present disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for displaying images. The display device includes a display element formed on a transparent substrate. An elevated aperture layer (EAL) is fabricated on the display element. The opposing substrate is bonded to the transparent substrate with the display element and the EAL disposed between the two substrates. In order to prevent the opposing substrate from contacting the EAL and potentially damaging the EAL or display element, the spacer is constructed from the same material used to form the display element and the EAL. The spacer extends a distance beyond the upper surface of the EAL and above the transparent substrate and encapsulates a layer of polymer material used in making the mold for the EAL.
