abstract |
A microneedle array is provided for administering drugs or other substances into living tissue. A method for making an array of microneedles is also provided. The array includes a base substrate, a primary funnel extending from one of the base substrates, and two or more solid microneedles extending from the primary funnel. Contains the substance of interest. The method provides a non-porous gas-permeable mold having two or more cavities, each defining a microneedle, and filling the cavities with a fluid material containing a target substance and a liquid vehicle. Drying the fluid material to remove at least a portion of the liquid vehicle and form a plurality of microneedles containing the substance of interest, wherein the filling comprises a pressure differential between opposing surfaces of the mold Implemented by application.
