titleOfInvention How to collect image data at multiple sample depths simultaneously
abstract A new method that can simultaneously acquire image data from multiple depths of large-capacity samples is presented. In this method, a continuous 2D or 3D image is obtained with the acquisition depth in the sample being changed rapidly. The method can also be used for autofocus. In addition, the present method for acquiring image data from a sample enables 2D or 3D imaging of the sample, particularly when using the tilt configuration shown in FIG. 2, with optimum efficiency with respect to speed and light sensitivity. The method is used in particular with an imaging sensor having a 2D array of pixels in an orthogonal XY coordinate system, where a gap for an electronic circuit is provided. Other imaging sensors may be used. Furthermore, an imaging apparatus for automatically executing the method is provided.
