The method of making a cylindrical insert is useful for making a custom fit insert that corresponds to the patient's anatomy and eliminates the problems of pressure points, graft wear, damage to surrounding tissue, and dents. A surface measurement of the affected area of the patient's lumen is obtained. Use those measurements to design the core. The core is 3D printed using a soluble material. The core is wound with thin fibers or membranes so that a contour from the core is formed on the outer surface of the dressing. The dressing is cured and the core dissolves, leaving a custom-made implant device that can be placed in the patient's body cavity. |
