titleOfInvention | Grade corneal fluorescence staining |
abstract | The techniques described herein can be embodied in a system and computer-implemented method for determining a score that represents the amount of corneal staining. These methods acquire one or more digital images of the cornea stained with tracer material, receive selected locations of a portion of the image, and process the selected locations with a processing device. Including defining an evaluation area by excluding an area having an unnatural result. A plurality of Cartesian color components are determined for each of a plurality of pixels in the evaluation area, and polar coordinate based hue values are calculated from the components. The amount of corneal staining is then determined as a function of the hue value. The method also includes assigning a score to an evaluation area based on the staining amount calculated for a plurality of pixels. [Selection] Figure 1 |
