titleOfInvention | Filament device for the treatment of vascular defects |
abstract | Devices and methods for treatment of a patient's vasculature are described. The device includes an implant made of a woven braided mesh having a variable mesh density, i.e., the average size of the pores in one region is different from the average size of the pores in another region. In addition, there is a transition zone between the two regions. The implant has a low profile radially constrained state and an axially shortened expanded state. A method of using the device to treat a cerebral aneurysm is also described. A method of forming a tubular braid is also described. A method of forming a tubular braid with variable braid density is described. A method of forming a tubular braid using a grooved mandrel is also described. |
