Provided is a method for treating the disappearance of alveolar bone by administration of a specific antibody against periodontal tissue destruction and alveolar bone loss due to periodontal disease. The alveolar bone is administered to a patient in need of treatment with an amount of anti-sclerostin antibody effective to reduce the distance between the cement enamel border and the alveolar crest at a dose of 5 to 1,000 mg per week.
