PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved pharmaceutical formulation of hydrocortisone and its use in the management of adrenal dysfunction in newborns, infants, small children, prepubertal children and the elderly. A pharmaceutical composition optimized for oral administration comprising a microparticulate carrier comprising an effective amount of hydrocortisone and a binder and a taste masking polymer layer in contact with the microparticulate carrier.
