Electronic focus alignment of X-ray tubes |
abstract |
An alternative to mechanical alignment for fine tuning adjustment of focus position and hence centerline is provided. A technique for electronically aligning a centerline of an x-ray tube with a radiation detector is disclosed. In one example, the x-ray system includes an x-ray tube and tube control unit (TCU) 440. The x-ray tube is configured to generate a x-ray having a centerline from a cathode including an electron emitter configured to emit an electron beam, an electron beam received and impinging on the focal point of the anode. And a steering magnetic multipole arranged between the cathode and the anode and configured to generate a steering magnetic field from the steering signal. At least two poles of the steered magnetic multipole are on either side of the electron beam. The TCU includes at least one steering driver 450 configured to generate a steering signal. The TCU is configured to convert the offset value into a steering signal. [Selection] Figure 24 |
