abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining an engine output gain. The present invention relates to a fuel composition containing a specific additive, a quaternary ammonium salt or a combination of additives, and such a fuel composition. A method is provided for operating an internal combustion engine with a fuel composition, resulting in engine output gain. The present invention provides a method of supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine comprising the step of supplying a fuel composition to the internal combustion engine. The fuel composition includes a fuel that is liquid at room temperature and a quaternary ammonium salt. The quaternary ammonium salt comprises (a) a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent and a compound containing an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom condensable with the acylating agent and further containing a tertiary amino group, and (b ) Includes reaction products of quaternizing agents suitable for converting tertiary amino groups to quaternary nitrogen.
