abstract An editor capable of editing and updating a graphical user interface of a process plant terminal under a runtime environment is provided. A graphical display editor can be used to generate an interrelated graphical display that can provide a display for operator viewing, simulation, and maintenance functions in a process plant in a runtime environment. Because the same graphic editor is used to generate the graphic display, the resulting graphic display can have the same look and feel and be bound in the same way to the runtime environment in the plant in general.
