abstract |
An eye-mounted device for measuring tear film analyte concentration is provided. An eye-mounted device includes an electrochemical sensor embedded in a polymeric material configured for attachment to the surface of the eye. The electrochemical sensor includes a working electrode and a reference electrode that reacts with the analyte to produce a sensor measurement related to the concentration of the analyte in the fluid to which the ocular device is exposed. . An exemplary assembly process includes forming a sacrificial layer on a work substrate, forming a first layer of biocompatible material on the sacrificial layer, and providing an electronic device module on the first layer of biocompatible material. Form a second layer of biocompatible material over the electronics module and anneal the first and second layers of biocompatible material together to fully encapsulate the biocompatible material Forming an encapsulating structure having a structured electronic device module.
