titleOfInvention Platinum catalyst, method for producing the same, and fuel cell using the platinum catalyst
abstract The present invention provides a platinum catalyst having an excellent durability with little decrease in electrochemical surface area (ECSA) by an accelerated durability test (ADT), and a method for producing such a platinum catalyst. A platinum catalyst for a fuel cell in which catalyst particles containing platinum and a metal other than platinum are supported on the surface of a carbon support, and the surface of the catalyst particles has a sulfur atom of a thiol group on one end side. And the other end side has a connecting structure part having an oxygen atom of a hydroxyl group, a lone electron pair of a sulfur atom of a thiol group is coordinated to the catalyst particle, silicon dioxide covalently bonded to the oxygen atom of the hydroxyl group, The surface of the catalyst particles is covered with a coating of titanium dioxide or aluminum oxide, and the carbon support is exposed without the coating on the surface of the carbon support on which no catalyst particles are present. A suitable compound for forming the above linkage structure is 3-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane. [Selection] Figure 7
