abstract An object of the present invention is to accurately identify the position of a detection target when detecting the detection target inside a subject using an ultrasonic probe. A plurality of transducers disposed along a first direction and transmitting an ultrasonic beam to a subject and receiving a reflected wave thereof, and drive signals to the plurality of transducers 210 are transmitted. An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus 1 that receives a reception signal related to a reflected wave from an ultrasonic probe 2 having a transducer switching unit 24 that controls and deflects the transmission direction of an ultrasonic beam in a first direction. Then, based on the temporal change of the received signal, the position specifying unit 11b that specifies the depth of the detection target inside the subject and the first and second angles in which the transmission directions of the ultrasonic beams are different are detected. A position specifying unit 11b for specifying the position of the detection target in the first direction based on the previous reception signal generated by the reflected wave from the target.
