abstract |
An object of the present invention is to further improve a comprehensive exhaust purification function based on a NOx purification function and an HC purification function in an NSR catalyst provided in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine. In the NSR catalyst, a portion from the upstream end to X% (0 <X ≦ 75) of the total length of the NOx storage catalyst layer along the flow of exhaust gas in the NOx storage catalyst layer supported by the carrier. The upstream catalyst layer is a downstream catalyst layer in the NOx occlusion catalyst layer that is downstream of the upstream catalyst layer along the exhaust flow. The upstream catalyst layer does not contain potassium (K) as the NOx storage material, and the downstream catalyst layer contains potassium (K) as the NOx storage material. [Selection] Figure 1 |
