titleOfInvention | Polymers functionalized with lactones or thiolactones containing protected amino groups |
abstract | Disclosed is a lactone or thiolactone functionalized polymer containing protected amino groups with low hysteresis and low cold flow for tire manufacture. The method comprises: (i) polymerizing monomers to form a reactive polymer; and (ii) reacting the reactive polymer with a lactone or thiolactone containing a protected amino group. Of preparing polymerized polymer. The polymerizing step uses a coordination catalyst, the coordination catalyst is a lanthanide-based catalyst, and includes (a) a lanthanide-containing compound, (b) an alkylating agent, and (c) a halogen source. A process wherein the number average molecular weight (Mn) of the functionalized polymer is from 50,000 to 1,000,000 with a cis-1,4-polydiene having a cis-1,4 bond content greater than 1%. A method wherein the protected amino group is a dihydrocarbylamino group, a disilylated amino group or a (hydrocarbyl) (silyl) amino group. [Selection figure] None |
