abstract A drive device capable of accurately determining the state of a detection unit for detecting current is provided. A driving device includes a first battery, a first detector that detects a first current of the first battery, a second battery, and a second detector that detects a second current of the second battery; A drive unit that is driven by power supplied from at least one of the first and second capacitors, a third detection unit that detects a third current of the drive unit, and a first path between the first and second capacitors. A charge / discharge circuit having a second path between the first capacitor and the drive unit, a third path between the second capacitor and the drive unit, and a controller for controlling the charge / discharge. The control unit compares the first current and the second current in charging / discharging via the first path, compares the first current and the third current in charging / discharging via the second path, and the third path. Based on the results obtained from at least two operations of comparing the second current and the third current in charging / discharging via the battery, at least one state of the first to third detection units is determined.
