abstract | In a process of converting chemical energy of methanol into another form, a technology for efficiently converting using a biocatalyst that operates at room temperature and normal pressure, such as an enzyme, in particular, methanol is converted to carbon dioxide using an enzyme. Providing technology to convert the energy of methanol into other forms with high conversion efficiency and conversion rate during oxidation process. The method comprises the step of oxidizing methanol in the presence of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-dependent alcohol dehydrogenase, aldehyde dehydrogenase and formate dehydrogenase. A method of oxidizing methanol defined by the Km value and kcat value of an enzyme constituting the reaction system, the enzyme concentration, and the substrate concentration so that the concentration of the enzyme maximizes the oxidation reaction rate.
