abstract [PROBLEMS] To suppress the generation of forward torque without stopping an engine when a shift range is a non-forward range during inverterless travel control. A vehicle includes an engine, an MG (motor generator) 1, an MG 2, a planetary gear mechanism that mechanically connects them, a battery, and an inverter that performs power conversion between the battery and MG 1 and MG 2. And a control device. MG1 generates counter electromotive torque by being rotated by the engine. When an inverter abnormality occurs, the control device executes inverterless travel control that drives the engine so that the inverter is in a gate cutoff state and MG1 generates counter electromotive torque. When the shift range is the non-advanced range during the inverterless travel control, the control device releases the clutch provided on the power transmission path between the planetary gear mechanism and the drive wheels.
