abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a test substance evaluation method for evaluating whether or not a test substance is a substance having an action of amplifying the TRPV1 activity suppression action by menthol with a simple operation and high reproducibility. TRPV1-expressing cells are contacted with a test sample containing a TRPV1 agonist, a test substance and menthol and a comparative sample containing a TRPV1 agonist and menthol, respectively, and cells of TRPV1-expressing cells before and after contact with the test sample A change in the intracellular calcium concentration and a change in the intracellular calcium concentration of the TRPV1-expressing cells before and after contact with the comparative sample, and a change in the intracellular calcium concentration in the TRPV1-expressing cells before and after contact with the test sample and the comparative sample The test substance evaluation method which evaluates whether the said test substance is a substance which has the effect | action which amplifies the TRPV1 activity suppression effect by a menthol based on the change of the intracellular calcium concentration of the TRPV1 expression cell before and behind contact.
