abstract The present invention provides a safe and effective means for promoting replacement, regeneration or protection of sensory hair cells in the inner ear. A biodegradable polymer such as a poly (lactic acid-glycolic acid) copolymer and an siRNA molecule that reduces the expression of a basic helix loop helix (bHLH) gene (Hes1 gene) in inner ear tissue. The nanoparticle composition for the regeneration of hair cells of the inner ear, wherein the biodegradable polymer and the siRNA molecule are homogeneously mixed, and may further contain superparamagnetic iron oxide.
