Disclosed are compounds and methods for inhibiting indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) and tryptophan-2,3-dioxygenase (TDO). Novel compounds related to imidazoisoindole and pharmaceutical compositions thereof having different electronic and heme binding properties. [Effects] Modulation of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase and tryptophan-2,3-dioxygenase activity; treatment of immunosuppression; treatment of medical conditions that have beneficial effects by inhibiting tryptophan degradation; including administration of anticancer drugs Useful for enhancing the efficacy of anti-cancer treatments; treating tumor-specific immunosuppression associated with cancer; and treating immunosuppression associated with infections.
