abstract Disclosed is a fluorescent glass that is excellent in ultraviolet transparency and emits UVB light with high efficiency by photoexcitation. A fluorescent glass made of silica glass doped with a metal element, wherein the metal element includes a luminescent center element and a photosensitizer for the luminescent center element, both elements in the presence of phosphorus. The phosphor nanocrystal is doped with silica glass, the emission center element is Gd, the photosensitizing element is Pr, and the emission center element and the photosensitizing element are included as constituent elements.
