titleOfInvention Solutions that increase the stability and shelf life of organ tissue preservation solutions
abstract Disclosed are organ and tissue preservation solutions with improved stability. The solution is composed of two separate solutions. The first solution, Solution A, is composed of a balanced salt solution having a pH of 7.0 or higher that is stable in the solution state. The second solution, Solution B, is less than 7.0 containing L-glutathione and / or cysteinyl glycine, a sugar such as D-glucose, L-arginine, a reducing agent such as ascorbic acid, and water, Preferably, it is composed of an aqueous solution having a pH of about 3.0 to 5.0. These two solutions are mixed at the time of use and the pH is adjusted to about 7.3, resulting in an organ and tissue preservation solution with improved stability. Preferably, Solution A has a pH of about 7.6 and Solution B has a pH of about 5.0. The present invention also consists of a kit 20 containing two solutions in two separate containers 22,24. In an alternative embodiment, sugar can be present in solution A.
