abstract | The present disclosure provides systems, processes, products and compositions relating to the use of degradable adapters for background reduction in various nucleic acid manipulations. In particular, adapters are provided that can be degraded to the extent that degradation products cannot participate in, or substantially cannot, participate in subsequent reactions (eg, ligation, primer extension, amplification and sequencing reactions).
